Colour is at the heart of the house founded by Pauline Moynat. Ever since the start of the era of automobiles Moynat developed the speciality of creating trunks adapted not only to the shape of the cars, but especially lacquering the trunks to match the exact shade of the automobile body. As a result, colour became a distinguishing feature of Moynat, as illustrated by the iconic red leather trunk with its palm leaves in blue leather. This trunk, designed by Henri Rapin, was awarded thirteen prizes including the medal of honour at the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in 1925, and was instrumental in launching the Art Deco period in design.
