I am so miserable lately. I can't find work in my field and I am hopeless hopeless hopeless at finding work in other fields. So I'm unemployed and it's killing me. I feel so judged, like as soon as I step outside everyone knows. Hahaha. I really like watching this busker play. Wow, I must be so poor and pathetic I sit for literally hours watching a busker play. Let me throw in my $2 coin. Woo Hoo. I am hating my life. (That busker is great though, nothing about them). I can't be bothered going to sleep because the following day is going to be yet another debacle. I'm having eating issues as well. I can't be bothered cooking. I don't see the point in cleaning. My favourite outfit is out of fashion. What can I do, just become a stripper? When will this end. When will I feel relief? Oh and everyone seems to hate me because I don't 'smile' enough and I'm 'shy'. Woo!

Mood swings, paranoid, change of ideology, euphoric, apathetic. Why am I like that? why can't I have one thinking or ideology and keep it for a long period of time without doubt and reconstructions in my mind?

I'm a senior in high school and I pretty much ruined my chance of graduating this year with my class. You see, I've always been the kind of person who hated school. Hated waking up early in the morning, riding the public transportation, dealing with the loud and obnoxious teenagers at school and so on. All these things and plus combined with the stuff I am also dealing with in my personal life has transformed me into kind of depressed and anxiety ridden person.

Being depressed caused me to have a lack of motivation to do anything productive. So, instead of going to school like all the other students, I would just skip school and just stay home. My mother didn't like the fact that I didn't go to school everyday. She told me to go to school, but most of the time I didn't listen to her. Eventually she would just give in and let me stay home anyway. Now a days, I don't think she really cares anymore. My father just straight up doesn't give a damn.

Now school is almost over and finals are coming up soon. I talked to the student guidance counselor 4 weeks ago about my situation. She pretty much told me to come to school the last couple of weeks and do some make up work and so on. I came to school a few times after are conversation, but only a few times though. At this point kind of doesn't really matter.

It's funny really. I've had several opportunities to change things around for the better this year, but instead I just decided to stay home. I feel like a full time failure right now and all this pain and guilt has been eating away at me for weeks now.

I feel like going back in time and kicking myself in the balls..... :l

I am a male, 21 (22 in June), and have absolutely no social life whatsoever. I have been more or less a loner since middle school and ever since I have had only acquaintances and work friends with whom I exchange conversation, but nothing even close to a true friend, let alone a best friend.

My attempts at making a meaningful relationship with a woman have also always ended in defeat and humiliation. Have only had 1 girlfriend, and this was someone who continually used and abused me for a period of 2 years or so before she got tired of me and found something better.

Despite all this, I do not believe myself to be depressed however. I have, over recently years/months, grown to realize that this could be my true nature in life, alone and lonely, and have put forward great effort into accepting this role in an attempt to somehow finally be happy with who I am.

Every time I think I have finally made it; that I can be alone and not feel bad about myself I suddenly get reminded by society, by the sights and sounds of the world of everything I am missing out on, and everything I will never have.

I cannot change who I am, that is, be more outgoing, lose weight, become funny or intelligent, interest people...If I could I would have done so long ago. I am just seeking an answer to my silent suffering, a way to live a fulfilling life entirely in solitude and not covet social life.

Can anyone help me?

Sometimes, when I force myself to read something i should (for work for example), it seems like my brain starts to feel dried out after a while...I manage to understand what I read, intellectually I'm getting into it, but it's like i'm violating my own mind. When I stop, this feeling goes on for a while....as if I could not find any creative thought because of straining my brain and forcing it to go in a direction it didn't want to....usually I'm no fun for a while, then, when I'm again among friends or family, it's like my brain softens up and I'm the old me again, I have fresh ideas and I'm creative again. I'm forced to read quite a lot of things I'm not drawn to for my work. But this happens to me also when I read things I think should interest me, but it's maybe only that I've convinced myself that this is so, but my subconscious says no. But when I read things I'm genuinely interested in, this problem doesn't occur. Anyway, most people I know who read intellectually challenging stuff that doesn't interested them are bored, bu do not feel boring or dull as I do once I've finished....it's like my brain doesn't function as it normally does for some time afterwards. This keeps me off reading stuff that I think would be quite useful for me...anyone can relate to this ?

Course I don't believe in time travel. But it is eerie how two people born decades apart can look so similar.

I need help. I'm a 31 year old with the social and emotional development of a 15 year old, while being academically gifted and intelligent. The two sides of me could not me more diametrically opposite. And I'm falling apart at the seams. 10 years or more of being in and out of university with nothing to show for it. 4+ years of retail jobs in between. All the while living at home comfortably by mommy and daddies side where I didn't REALLY have to worry about the scary world. Now I've come to the realisation that I'm fcuked. I'm almost too old to enter the white collar world, experience means everything nowadays, I don't even have my degree yet yet alone experience and at 31 times running out. On the other side there's a world full of crappy menial labour jobs. I'm terrified of the world in some ways. So long as I'm in a structured environment like school or the like with set boundaries and rules I'm not too bad, though even here I've had several small breakdowns with the most recent being not so small. But dealing with the world at large, I don't know. What's the point? Why bother? I just want to curl up in a ball and die. And I've been feeling this way for years now and its getting worse by the day. I'm now exhausted beyond description every day and possibly facing a number of physical ailments as well.

Why keep going?

Ok,

The last year I've made some pretty damn good achievements and triumphs over my social issues. I've made more progress than I've made in years. But, it seems with every triumph and achievement, I get overwhelmed by negative thoughts.

An example: Asked a woman out, she said yes, my thought process immediately turns to "Why did she say yes?", "What does she see in me?"

Now, I'm currently dating my second woman ever, and she seems to be perfect for me, we both have had our past issues with depression, insecurities, low-self esteem. We really connect, have things in common, love affection, etc, etc. We really open up to each other about our struggles we've been facing or have faced, and it's immediately apparent that she couldn't give two hoots about me being friendless, a virgin, overweight, she just likes me as I am. She messages me all the time, goes on about how I'm perfect, special, and how she dreams about me at night(She really does, and some of the stuff that happens is pretty freaking funny and bizarre, lol), the way she acts it's like she feels priviledged to be with me, not the other way around, so yeah, seems perfect, right?

But, no.... My mind springs into action, about how I'm ugly/fat, or that I don't deserve this, not worthy of this, that it won't work out, that this or that will go wrong, that the issues of mine that she accepts will still drive her away regardless, and the list goes on.

I'm facing a losing battle with my negative thoughts, and it's certainly the main thing keeping me back. I'm sure most people here, have made a list of things in the past, things that if you could achieve them, or if you were presented the opportunity of achieving them, your mind would suddenly be in a happy place, but damn, negative thoughts don't let-up.

My date said she'd kick me in the nuts the next time I start worrying about things, I guess that is some ah.. positive reinforcement?

I just want to say that with all of the animosity, frustration, and negative thoughts on this section, I think it might be worth it to post something positive. SA can be so debilitating, it can be hard to see light at the end of the tunnel. For some reason, we were put on this earth with a heck of a lot more struggles and hardships than most. So before this turns into tldr, I just want to reiterate some positive words from someone who has nothing yet still has a positive outlook on life. This goes out to every single one of you. No matter how bad you think you are or how lonely you may feel, no matter what -

No matter what you've done, you deserve respect.

Even if you make mistakes, you're lovable.

It doesn't matter your looks, skills or age, or size, or anything.

You're worthwhile, no one can ever take that away from you.

I'm going a bit crazy with worry so thought I would post here to get it all out and to get some advice. I'm going to travel to a different city in a couple of weeks to see a girl. She knows I like her and asked if I wanted to see her. I'm not worried about meeting her I'm worried about my anxiety. It's a big thing for me to travel to another city and be social, never mind going to meet a girl. I really want to come across well and don't want to be nervous and shy. I'm worried that we might go out for dinner, or shopping or worst go to a club :afr I don't want to go all that way and have a panic attack:(

So any advice?

Hopefully I can get all my insecurities out the way now and enjoy myself.:)

Please calm down. It's definitely not rape. The only way I see trouble is if your behavior toward the other person was perceived as threatening to her and that person was fearful of being harmed. Then, yes, it is rape.

If the other person feels as if they do not have a choice to get out of allowing sexual contact because of threatening behavior toward that person than it would be rape.

As long as your "threat" of self harm is not violent and/or potentially physically harmful to the other person, then you would be in no way assaulting the other person.

I think your method of self-harm could be in play here of how it is perceived as threatening to the other person. If it involves violence and the person is in your company when you make the statements about carrying out the act then the other person could feel threatened by you and your behavior and this could be sexual assault.

However, if the other person does not feel threatened for their own safety in this situation then it is not sexual assault.

Hey guys!

I'm headed to Ireland and Scotland next month for 3 weeks. I'm super excited - this trip has encouraged me to look past my SA because this was something to work towards.

Anyways, has anyone ever been to these countries? Or perhaps live in them? I'm flying in to Dublin, and then my aunt and I will be working our way up to Antrim, and from there I'm not quite sure where we'll be going (fingers crossed for Donegal, Galway, or Co. Clare!) And in Scotland we'll be mainly around Aberdeen.

Travel suggestions/tips? Anything I can't miss while I'm over there?

What do you do when you fail at something? how do you react, what effects does it have on you and your behaviours?

I dont mean just failing something; i also mean when people hurt you, when events conspire to hurt and/or take things from you, when people give negative criticism of you, and take things from you; like it seems that the world is against you.

This affects me imensely, it results in all kinds of behaviours, it can be something seemingly trivial (to others maybe, but not to you).

I hate life for this because i have never been shown, taught how to cope with it properly. I hate my mother and siblings because they often did this to me but never taught me how to cope with it.

What support can i expect to help me with this? Who can i ask? what do i asl for?

hi.

I am VDub driver, i am 49 and 364/365ths years old. I am married, and live in scotland. I have a birthday on monday; i will be 50, i'm suprised i got to here; and i bet i'll be dead by 60yrs.

I am fed up with my life, especially the hellish legacy my mother dumped on me, i am quite unsuccesfull in all i do and dislike my (so called) mother, i'm glad she's dead. I also dislike myself intensely because i was born from her. I didnt have a chance to succedd in life because of her.

People say that life is but a joke; its not a very good joke because its not very funny.

I have given such compassion and love for others, only to be denied it from many others. I have been a kind, caring, thoughtfull, even to those i knew it probably wouldnt be returned, to be kicked in the teeth repeatedly and especially by my own mother and siblings. I am however glad to say i havent seen or heard from them for about 14 years. I hate them for what they did to me and for the effects it has on me even now.

Thats about it, i cant give anything positive because i dont feel very positive today. Thats because i allways feel this way just before my birthdays especially this one my 50th.

thats all there is for now.:blank

So, I told my friend about my SA, Panic Disorder and GAD at school on Thursday, and he's been really supportive since. It was because, I had to go out of lessons to see the school psychiatrist for my anxiety, and he asked, "why are you skiving?" He also said, "is it because you don't have many friends? Because, you don't talk to anyone, you know that, right? A load of people think you're rude.".

So I ended up telling him WHY I haven't been turning up for some lessons, and why I missed a whole day of school recently. I was worried he'd tell everyone, but he hasn't. All he's said is, if anyone asks why I'm not in a lesson, "he's doing something you don't need to know about".

Have you told anyone about your SA, or any other disorders you may have?
