Can't get a Job

I have tried and tried to get a job but I just can't catch a break. I love playing online games, but I'm stuck playing them on a ****ty laptop. My parents can't afford to buy me a proper gaming computer, so they told me to get a job. I have applied to approximatly 50 places in the past 3 months and haven't heard back from a single one, and I have no clue why. I'm quite smart, and get good grades. I respect my elders and listen to instructions well. I have all this trouble and my best friend starts applying, and he gets a job at the first place he tries. I just don't get it. What can I do?
