SQUARED AWAY
Hairstylist Akki Shirakawa weighs in on the haircut of the season, the carré, inspired by Linda Evangelista’s famous crop
To me, the look is like the high fashion leaders in Tokyo in the late 80s and early 90s. These people were wearing Yohji Yamamoto, Comme des Garçons, Issey Miyake, etc., and they had graphic haircuts and wore pinstripe suits, long skirts, dark eye shadow, and dark nails.
To get the look, you should not go to the hair salon—this is important. Instead, ask one of your fashionable friends to do, almost so it looks like a mistake. It should be like someone chopped off some length and cut bangs in five minutes.
Make it fresh right with color. If you have originally lighter hair color, it can go almost pitch black, if you have black hair it can be bleached blonde. Some color would help to make the haircut create cool unbalance of beauty face and hair. –Akki
