Lena Dunham Responds To Lisa Lampanelli's N-Word Controversy!

And just when we thought the dust had settled around the latest Lena Dunham controversy...

Turns out, the Girls creator HERSELF is not too cool with comedienne Lisa Lampanelli using the N-word to describe their friendship, and despite the argument one could make that there was no demeaning or belittling intention behind its usage in this specific instance, she is still HELLA uncomfortable with Twitter being the place to discuss such an explosive, hotly-debated issue!

After being criticized on the social media site for not taking a public stance on the drama, Lena responded:

@shayladpierce That's not a word I would EVER use. Its implications are beyond my comprehension. I was made supremely uncomfortable by it.

@shayladpierce Perhaps I should have addressed it, but the fact is I've learned that twitter debates breed more twitter debates.

— Lena Dunham (@lenadunham) February 22, 2013

@shayladpierce Don't like the idea that my silence read to you as tacit approval. It wasn't.

— Lena Dunham (@lenadunham) February 22, 2013

@shayladpierce But 140 characters will never be enough for the kind of dialogue that will actually help us address issues of race and class.

We have to hand it to her for walking what's obviously the very delicate tightrope that can come with such discussions, all the while maintaining a firm, yet sympathetic stance!

While it's unfair that she was dragged into this all purely by association, we are glad that see that she not only takes this subject matter very seriously, but wants to promote an honest, objective-as-possible discussion on the ever-changing symbolism and connotations that are associated with not just the n-word, but all language that has been used as a weapon of hate and degradation against minority groups in this country...and OFF of Twitter, thankyouverymuch!

Let's keep on moving toward progress, folks!
