Weekend Challenge: Pet Portrait

Hey there you wittle guysss,

This weekend, we want to tap into a talent that every person has inherently, deep in the core of your being—documenting your pet. The subject matter is the easy part, but how you choose to film them is up to you. Think about the unique qualities of your animal of choice, and let that influence your style.

Take these two videos by Matt Wiebe; in the first, the sleepy pugs are captured with still shots from multiple angles so that we may bask in their stillness:

But in THIS video, the dog-level camera alongside the same pups makes for an exciting portrait that features their playful spirits:

There are plenty of ways to make a unique portrait of your pet! Perhaps a hidden camera to capture your cat's sneaky tricks, or a narrator to give insight into what a chameleon thinks? Make it interesting, and have fun! I've collected some of our favorite pet videos here for inspiration.

+ Make a video portrait of an animal.

+ Keep your video under 2 minutes.

+ If you add music, use a song you've created or something from the Vimeo Music Store.

+ Upload and post your video to the Weekend Challenge Group by Tuesday, July 2nd at 11:59 PM (EST).

Remember that only videos made specifically for this Challenge will be considered. All videos must be approved by the Vimeo Staff before appearing in the Group, so don't worry if your video doesn't show up at first; we'll get to it!

The winner of this Challenge will receive a free Vimeo Plus account for one year, and one of our stunning new trophies!

If you're already a Plus member, you'll get another year! The runner-up will receive an extra 3GB of upload space, Plus account or not.
